This is an easy pattern for a Poochy crochet beanie; it just requires knowledge of color changing and a little bit of sewing. I makes for a super cute dog beanie that resembles Yoshi’s beloved friend from Yoshi’s Story and Yoshi’s Crafted World!

My husband got me Yoshi’s Crafted World for the Nintendo Switch quite some time ago and I hadn’t even touched it until recently. I have no idea why I waited as long as I did, as soon as I booted it up I fell in love with it.
Poochy, Yoshi’s beloved friend, is a dog that I wholeheartedly believe is designed from the Poochie in the Super Mario Bros live action show back in 1989. That Poochie in the show beloned to Cher, apparently. Go read the synopsis. I was rolling 😂
Anyway, Poochy (the Yoshi’s Crafted World version) has a few puppies that you have to find in the various levels. They’re cute and mischievous and I was inspired to make a beanie from their likeness!
You can change up the tan color and use whatever color to personalize your Poochy! Yoshi’s can come in any color, so why not Poochy pups too?

Assembly
Position the eyes on the beanie so that one is on the main color and one is on the secondary color, about 11 sts apart, and the center of the eyes are on round 15 of the beanie. Sew on. Your hat is finished if you don’t want to attach a tongue or pom-pom!
Position the tongue on the inside of the brim so that it won’t be in the way of your face (unless that’s something you want, I’m not stopping you ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) and sew on with gold yarn.
Attach pom-pom to the top of the beanie.
