This Professor Laventon crochet beanie pattern
As soon as I started playing Pokemon Legends: Arceus for the Nintendo Switch I knew I had to make Professor Laventon’s hat!
My version is a little different than what he wears in game. I wanted to make a simple pattern based off my other graphed beanies, so I decided not to include the part of his hat that goes around his chin. This also made it a lot easier to chart the pattern.

Materials
J/10 6mm hook (or size needed to obtain gauge)
Two colors worsted weight yarn (I used RHSS in white and lavender)
Embroidery scissors
Finishing needle
Terms (US)
Ch – chain
Hdc – half double crochet
Rnd – round
Sc – single crochet
St – stitch
Notes
~Ch 1 at the beginning of each round does not count as a st.
~Join at the end of each round with a sl st to the top of the first st of the round.

Gauge: 12 sc and 19 rows in a 4×4″ square
Instructions
Rnd 1 – With lavender yarn, 8 hdc in a magic circle, or ch 4, st st in 1st ch and then ch 1, 8 hdc in ring. (8 hdc)
Rnd 2 – Ch 1, 2 hdc in same st. 2 hdc in each st around. (16 hdc)
Rnd 3 – Ch 1, hdc in same st. 2 hdc in next st. *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around. (24 hdc)
Rnd 4 – Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next st. 2 hdc in next st. *hdc in next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around. (32 hdc)
Rnd 5 – Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next 2 sts. 2 hdc in next st. *hdc in next 3 sts, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around. (40 hdc)
Rnd 6 – Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next 3 sts. 2 hdc in next st. *hdc in next 4 sts, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around. (48 hdc)|

Rnd 12 – With purple yarn, ch 1 and sc in each st around. Turn. (72 sc)

Rnd 14 – Ch 1, sc in same st. Sc in next 5 sts. Change to white yarn and sc in next 6 sts. *Change to purple yarn and sc in next 12 sts. Change to white yarn and sc in next 6 sts.* Repeat from * to * twice. Change to purple yarn and sc in next 6 sts. Turn. (72 sc)

Make a large sized pom-pom and attach to the top of the hat.
